Participating Artist: Joseph Lee
In the age of social media, the art of portrait photography and posing for getting likes has become part of our daily lives. But how does this impact our way of reading images as well as the construction of our self image?
In his latest offering Unfolding Images: We Are Spectacles, choreographer Joseph Lee questions the mass production, reproduction and insatiable consumption of images in the digital age. Through contemporary theatre performance and the examination of body movement and gestures, Lee and his five performers guide us to reflect the times we are living in.
In this performance dedicated to students, Lee also invites students to join him and his performers on this journey to explore the relationship between to see and be seen. Students are encouraged to contemplate the meaning of images nowadays. Excerpts from the original show will be performed and Lee and his performers will conduct a dialogue with students. The team will share their experiences in their creative adventure and their observations of the phenomenon that has encroached upon us today.
